Hi there friends.
I just found a good deal with a nice old Venture next week in Madrid.
I still have some doubts about it and that's why I'm travelling to Madrid to see the bike and check it myself.
Seller says it was out of the dealer in 92 for the first time, but I am afraid that this is not gonna mean the bike is a 92 model.
Here are some details about it for all of you to read and give your very much appreciatted opinnion.
Color: Some kind of red (I don't know how to translate "granate" into English). I think is like this one (without the girl, of course):
Odometer: 35.000 miles.
Owners: Seller says it came from Holland, but having the odometer in miles, I think the bike came form the States. Now, is there any way to find out if it travelled to the States to Holland new or used?
CB radio: Seller does not seem to know what is that (I think he is one of those rich workers who bought the bike because it was big). He sales the bike now after 6 months because he is too short to reach the grown with both feet and he is afraid of falling. But, the question is: if the bike really comes from the States, will it have the CB radio from factory? Do all the American Ventures from late years have the CB from factory?
Price: he is asking for 6.000 €uros but from our conversation I think I can negotiate a little bit and reach 4.000 or 4.500 €uros. First time I called him I offered my help as the Spanish Venture Club president to sale his bike in our club and told him he went like crazy with the price (it is not a Goldwing, I told him ;D ).
Finally, when I get close enough to the bike to take a look at it and ride it, what things should I consider to be sure the bike is in good shape. I'm not talking about make up, of course, but maybe the first gen owners can jump in here and give some advice.
And one last question. Apart from the colors, is there any other way to know what year a Venture was built in? I'm thinking about serial numbers or something like that.
Anyway, thanks in advance for all your help, as always and I hope that I can soon be the owner of TWO VENTURES.
Hasta la vista,
Nacho.
