Let me know if you're planning to be in the Jura region of France at all.
With any luck I will be comming back to france from the UK at that time as I am hoping to come across for the Autumn NABD'ness rally for 9-11th at Cornbury Park, near Oxford. I might beon the Bike, or I may have to take the car for the baked beans and bacon run. Either way if I jugle my travel time we could hook up on the boat if you're doing france first (unless you'd fancy the rally?). I usualy travel Sea France myself, as its that little bit cheaper yet a faster crossing. Don't forget the continental rules on spare bulbs and First aid kits. I'm not sure if it has to be one per bike or you can get away with carrying one amongst the group of bikes. Anyone know the rules (yeah I know I should know living here but I don't)?

Hello Dave
Coming from UK, the most important thing you have to remember all the time is that on the continent we are driving on the wrong side of the road !! So keep right and, especially after a left turn !!!
Remember also that in France, you have to pay to use the motorway, and every body will tell you, it's not really very cheap. So if you decide to go through the main road, be carefull since Sarkozy is back in the government. So the police has to make money to reimburse all the speed radar he bought ( with our money ) 2 years ago. Obviously, they are not where you could have an accident, but they are sure you'll be overspeed limit, like entrance of small village or towns, long straight lines, ... So be attentive to all the speed limit panels, that are labelled in kilometers per hour.
Otherwise, they are plenty of things to see all along the way to Germany. If you want to stop over in Alsace, contact Pief on this forum, he speaks good english and lives somewhere near Strasbourg.
Otherwise, after the Jura you can come down to Lyon and you will be welcome in Villefranche sur Saône!!!
Wish you a good trip
Alexandre
