I feel really offended by your words because they clearly state taht you think I was unable to repair my beautiful silver bike (by the way, faster than yours even if your's is also silver). Maybe you would like to start a motorcycle club in Europe? ? ;D ;D ;D ;D ....and you could have a good time with all your motorcycle friends and they could always be available to help you when you have mechanical problems with the bike!!!! ;D ;D ;D...I could help you.. .................... Hi there all friends. I finally fixed the problem. It took me almost all the weekend, but I finally found what the problem was. Right under the battery box, there is a thick rope made out of many wires all taped together. Well this thick rope was in contact with the bike frame (¿chassis?) and part of tape was gone and some wires worn out. I could see the copper in at least 3 or 4 of the wires and one of them was completely broken. That's the reason why the gas pump made its noise for at least half a second twice (when the broken wire was touched and made contact again). That was my first clue, like I said last week. The final clue came when a big spark close to the frame appeared suddenly when I was trying to loosen the TCI. I got even some smoke after the spark, so there I knew it was a short somewhere. When I finally saw all that tape gone and all the wires in contact with the frame, I simply started to open and take all the tape off to check the wires properly. It took me only 8 minutes to solve the problem once I found it but two days to figure out what the problem was and where it was. Anyway, here I post a few pictures of the worn wires and the broken one just in case anybody have similar problems so they have one more thing to check. So. Thanks to all for your advice, ideas and interest. Things like these are the ones that make feel so happy and so proud to belong to a club like this one. Boy..me too...great help there Nacho,, question, ..........it appears this is just below the battery, was the battery sitting on these wires and rubbing them??? Regardless....I'm still checkin mine out...it's rainin like crazy here, supposed to all thru Thurs..so this will give me one more thing to keep me busy until the SUN SHINES!!!!!!!!! ;D Thanks again...and you the man...just think of how much money you saved in LABOR from your local dealer...he would have porked ya big time for just lookin......never finding anything!!!! Great diagnostic work on your part!!!!

Glad you sorted that out Nacho. Have you ever had a battery leak or do you think it was just rubbing?
I suggest you and other RSV owner might like to put a piece of heavy duty foam under the loom there to stop it happening.
I'd be interested to know if this wear shows up on other peoples RSV's when they check.

Actually, I don't think the battery was sitting on those wires. The battery is hosted inside a plastic box and that box is attached to the frame with two bolts in the upper part and sitting on the frame with another protection in the low part.
What it could had happened is that all those clables were not properly tight together with the zip tie that Yamaha put there. The zip tie that you see in the pictures made all the wires stay in contact with the frame when there is space enough to hold the thick wire away from it and closer to the TCI (by the way, what does TCI stands for?).
It could not have been Yamaha's fault, as my bike has been touched by seversal dealers and people in the last seven years and somebody may have leave it that way. You can be the ones who tell me if things are the same way in your RSV's.
Also, I think that our defective shock absorber has something to be with this. Yes, it is hard to believe, but I found to much moisture down there and the reason may be because when the shock fails, all the oil stays around there and the moisture from the road gets stucked there. I guess that if no oil would be arond that area, things would be much cleaner and the wires were not rubbing all the time against the frame.
So guys, go and check down there. Take out the battery box and make sure the wires are away from the frame (my advice is to attach them to the same wall where the TCI is located). Also, make sure that the whole area is clean as that is a closed place we don't usually check or clean.
Once again. Thanks again for all your help. It has been really very nice to have so many people involved in this trouble to help me and forget for a few minutes about politics.

sounds like it might be an uncommon problem Nacho. Something that just happened to you.
you mention oil was in there. Well oil is a petrochemical and so is the plastic that covers the wires, so the oil can soften and even melt the insulation. It can even penetrate the insulation and reduce how well it keeps the current inside and alow wire to short and burn through even if they look whole.
I suggest a good inspection of any other wiring that may have come in contact with oil when the shock broke.

if the rsv is like our 1st gen bikes,then oil would lodge around that area if you slightly overfill the engine oil,we have to keep the level exactly at the half way on the inspection glass.
