Hi Tom you and your Girlfriend with the Venture are most welcomed here on our board
if you cant post ( you need webspace to do so...)- pls send the pics per email and i post them
tell us please where do you come from ?
back to your question:
i dont own a RSV - Royal Star Venture but i think ebay is as always the best place to look for spare-parts or bikes i dont think that one of our members has a spare shaft , the bike is just to new
good luck with this
and maybe you should have a look at our int. friends in the USA - there are two great Forums where you can post your question too ( Links on our website ! )

Hi there, Tom. There is no problem for buying NEW spare parts for new Ventures, so if you don't find it second hand, we can probably get it cheaper in Spain than in your country. My advice is to try to find somebody (probably in USA) that made a TRIKE out of a Royal Star Venture. Those guys usually replace the drive shaft and put something else instead of it (car transmisions or specific trike transmision systems). So, I'm gonna do two things. First one is asking my Spanish dealer for the price of the part you're looking for. Take a look to the picture at the end of this message and please confirm to me that the part you need is the one showing. And secondly, I will ask to our American brothers if somebody is willing to sale that part for you. Lets see what we can get and how the "Venture Brotherhood" works here. It would be great if that "brotherhood" starts with you and you tell us something else from you, like where do you come from, what has been you experiencie with bikes or something else that you might consider interesting for us to know. Anyway, best regards from Spain and thanks for joining this great board. Nacho.

That would be called the pinion gear in English. What the problem is with is probably the pinion bearing, as that went out on my bike, fortunately while it was under warranty! I think it would be #8 on the diagram. Any good gearbox mechanic should be able to repair it, if the pinion is not damaged, the bearings can be matched and replaced by any good bearing shop! Just look at the small numbers and letters printed around the edge of the outside of the bearing!

UHello Here is a story about trobule with ,, drive shaft,, : How has come it for this failure? hmmm. She didn’t really known how. They didn’t rode very fast, just 120-130 km/h .At first impression has become, that the coupler/clutch start sliding, strange sounds have come after some (certain) time when he start dropping acceleration/throttle. They didn’t had a chance check what really happened, incident/trouble happened somewhere on highway. He found only some clarence in ,,crosse joint ,, He thought, that ,,cross joint,, is gone. After slowly and gently ride( about 400 km) they returned home, after check-in all parts in ,,middle drive gear,, : ,,rear arm,, and ,,drive shaft,, they found that the ,,cross joint ,, is in very good condition but one part from ,,drive shaft,, I named as ,,gear shaft,,( that is a part what they looking for) had broken thread , really ,,gear shaft,, was broken on the end( part where is thread) shaft been parted in two pieces. Several teeth on the ,,shaft gear ,, had very deep scratches but they think that happened during a ride ( when the ,,gear shaft,, was already broken and had some clarence) All teeth on the plate ( I mean part between bearing #16 and thrust # 18) are without any scratches. That all what she just told me....... Today I resave a letter from USA with some attachments : Nacho do you have some news from your Spanish dealer about prices??? They need too anwser for that ofert from Maryland ..... Falko ask me too promotion your forum in our forum in Poland and I did : www.riders.pl/component/option,com_nxtlinks/catid,73/Itemid,61/ Your adres is now in our link base , I add some coments about your forum that you are very very friendly and very helpfull and if somebody need help then he should try ........ Bunnie you are from Nederland??? can you past for me some links where I can find new and second hand bikes for sale.....I looking for new bike

You just lucky only bearings ;D ;D thanhs for sugestions

Hi there, Tom.
Yes I got news from my Yamaha dealer early this morning. But I don't think they are gonna be good news for you.
They don't sell that pinion gear by itself. It is a complete and closed package with all the components of the shaft (or whatever teh name is).
Price for the whole thing in my dealer is 1425 €. You can take off a 15% of that price if I buy the part instead you. Then you will have to add taxes (16%) so it will be more or less that price.
The only problem is that you have to be sure becasue in these specific spare parts, no dealer in Spain admit any change or devolution.
So. If you don't like this price, then we will have to ask the american brothers and see what they can do for you.
Anyway. I hope I was of help. We keep in contact.
Best regards from Spain.
Nacho.

they found some second hand part,, drive shaft,, for about 400 euro....... And she ,,zosia,, logged in your forum, maybe I can ask here for some photos? and maybe she should write some more about they bikes ..... like where do she come from, what has been they experience with bikes or something else interesting for all of you? and maybe she can just post everything in polish and your friend Bunnie can translait .... today one of our member post almost the same problem just different bike: Yamaha V max, he had problem with broken pinion gear too (long time ago), he thinking that the pinion gear was under a strong force when he trying stop a bike by using for that purpose throttle handle (he just use a engine to stop a bike)....... its amazing in my point something like that had chance happens like 1:1000 ....maybe its only problem with bad quality of material? and one more thing if they will got that part do you recommended change something more? not only bearings?
