I would like to ask a follow up question concerning motorcycle camping, which seems to be much more prevalent in Europe and Japan than it is in the United States. How and how do you carry your gear? My wife and I do a lot more motorcycle camping than most of the folks we ride with, so I have built a trailer to carry the stuff we "need". In the trailer, which is usually packed and ready to go, is a 2.5m x 3.5m tent, a queen sized air mattress, two zip together sleeping bags, a Coleman folding camp table, a Coleman propane camp stove, pots and pans, a lantern, table cloth and serving ware, a 3 gallon water jug, a hand axe, folding shovel, and a medium size cooler for food and beer. If we are going for an extended time or if my brother-in-law and his wife are with us, I also strap another tent and two more chairs on the top. I call this rig my motorcycling "SUV"! ;D How does this compare to your camping "needs"?

Greg, Many motorcyclists here are putting little camping stuff on their motorcycles. Here is a pic of one of the participants. This is a tipical camp rider's style. If need more, we can use the rental tools in the camp site. I carried more basic than this rider.

Yes, Greg.
To the int. meeting in Sweden in 2003 we also had tent, a big air matress, to sleeping bags, clothes and some more stuff with us. All packed to the Venture without trailer and without additonal rack at the trailer hook-up. It was a little bit like truck driving but not too bad. ;D

Great pics there Taka, have you a special mounting on your bike to hold a camera,if so,where did you get it.Greg,I keep all my clothes in a 2 cylinder type pvc waterproof bags strapped on the pillion seat along with the cool bag,the 2 saddle bags carry my chain & lock, bike cover, waterproof riding gear,1 ring burner, pans, cutlery etc.The trunk has my music, documents & a space to fit my helmet in.On top of the trunk I have a 2 man tent,self-inflated matress & sleeping bag.Last but not least is my fishing rod which is strapped to the side opposite the ariel.

Hi Taka, great pics. Seems, like Japan is a good country for motorcycle riding. wish I will have a chance to do that one time in my life - motorcycle riding and eat lots of Sushi As I said in one of my postings before - behind my GW I had the same Champion trailer, like I do pull behind my trailer. With my first Venture I did carry all my stuff on the bike. I agree with roland, that was like truck driving. Had just a liitle tent with space for two and limited clothes and so on. It is easier to go on a long ride with a trailer - for sure - and I can take my old tent with me - if we will have rain in France for just a couple of hours - I will invite you for a tent party ;D ;D ;D Love this old tent - 12 years old - got it in the Netherlands

Grad you enjoyed the pics ;D TwoWheels, No, I don't have a camera mounting, I just took those photos by my left hand. Winghunter, I think Europe and the US have better condition to ride motorcycles than ours. Especially, Europe produced the motorcycles and the motorcycle culture. The US produced her own motorcycle culture. Japan produced many many wonderful motorcycles, but hasn't grown up motorcycle culture yet.
