Hi guys,
will get a trailer hitch for my XVZ 13 Royale. Tomorrow I will remove the bags for the installation. After I will go to the TÜV department in the hope that I will get an approval for it - but it seems to be good. The hitch was ordered at "hitchdoctor" in the US. That company is very known in the German Goldwing scene, known for a very good quality. I will keep you informed with pics and further information.

Oh friends, I really hate the German road regulations with our department that named "TÜV". They are so smart and helpfull . To get an approval for my trailer hitch I need to pay 3000,- Euro !!!! This amount I have to pay first and after they will test the bike with the hitch and a trailer behind a whole season ! that`s not a joke. So here is the question - who will give me the 3000,- Euro and who will borrow me a Venture for the upcoming riding season ? Don`t be afraid, I am joking with the last sentence. I will keep my money, my bike incl. the hitch and my trailer. That`s it ! ;D ;D ;D

Sorry to hear that, Rudy.
Don't you have any other way to arrange everything? Maybe in a different country and just using that country plates?
I'm just thinking aloud. It is a pity that you can't legalize your hitch. It was really pretty.
Anyway,
regards,
Nacho.

HI, Also vey sorry for you to read that. Is it because your trailer hich isn"t TUV approved ? I still saw German Venturer with this equipement....Why will the TUV test it again ?

Thanks for giving me your sympathy Bunnie : Sing with : Don`t worry be happy Nacho : That might be a choice. For example, in the Netherlands you do not need to register a trailer hitch for your motorcycle. I prefer to register the bike in Brazil - great riding conditions the whole year long, perfect beaches and brown girls with beautifull round hipps ;D ;D ;D Fabian : Yes it is the TÜV.

Fabian : sorry wrong answer. Here is the right one. No the trailer hitch hasn`t a TÜV approval and I am 100% sure, that none of the hitches those are installed on a Venture is TÜV approved !!!! The trailer has a road permit - in German : "Betriebserlaubnis"

I think that in France it is the same case as in NL. We have a sort of TUV for cars but nothing for bike. The only change we have to present is when you add a side-car. But this is because you add 1 or 2 places more. For trailer: nothing.

I have it....
If your trailer don't exceed in weight the half from your bike (with our Venture it will be 166 kg) there is nothing to do in France. But the trailer must have an homologation from an european manufacturer with the requested labels. Nothing about the trailer hitch only the sphere who as to be conform in size with the french legislation. You have nothing to do on the bike papers. What we also have on our papers in france is the total loading weight, you have to take care not to goes over this value.
If I found the complete regulation, I will post it.

If any one is intrested, there is a Swedish company that manufacturers a copy of the MARKLAND hitch. This hitch is approved to install with out any special permissions. The only thing is that you have to show the installation at the national inspection company and have it included in the registration papers.
