Ok so how are your dunlops performing?
I have the Dunlop Venoms fitted, 83 Venture, and I am finding they are getting more and more jittery on white lines and grooves, bumps in the road.
The appear to have a decent amount of tread left on them but they do appear to skip, quite allarmingly sometimes, over ruts, bumps, road change surfaces and white lines.
I know there are not many tyre makes that don't skip on white lines, my last metzlers I had on the FJ were only getting to this stage when quite worn, but my dunlops have a decent wear limit still.
Any thoughts guys!
Regards Bob

Hope somebody jumps in here to solve your tyre problem Bob,for the past 20 odd years I have only used Avons which I am very pleased with, when I was dispatching in London for years on CX's,XJ's & so on,I always used Avons, great on wet leaves & rain. Sorry I could'nt help you. I believe there is a big discussion about tyres in the USA club at the moment.

I drove venoms and had exactly the same problems. And I heard more had them.
These tires don't let you know when they are breaking out; they just do.
I guess the compound is wrong. get rid of them. I did with a lot of profile

;D ;D ;DHi i did not think that Dunlop made a Venom the Venom is made by Avon and i have them back and front on my Venture and have no problems with them at all. I have tried out Continentals as well but they are crap compared with the Avon Venoms 120/90/18 on the front and 140/90/16 on the rear i have found also that to mix makes also upsets them as well so my advise is to stick to one make

;D ;D ;D I have just replaced my tyres with another set of Avon tyres (tires to the uncivilised amongst us) i must say that they are just as good as the old set .I have also just put a set on Gordons Venture and he is over the moon with them compared with the dunlop tyres he had on at the time , besides they are made in England so they have got to be good.

Totally agree with Colin,I have had Avon venoms on all my bikes over the years, fantastic in dry & wet & no fear scraping the centre stand on a bend ;D ;D

Seems to me that the Avon Venom's work better with the XVZ 12 + 13 than the RSV. The German Venture Club prefers the Avon's with the XVZ 12+13. On my RSV I had the same problems like Bunnie: in wet weather the front tire breaks away sometimes. Not to much but enough to change the colour of the face. For me the best compromise for the moment on the RSV are the Metzeler Marathon.

thats funnie that you mentioned Roland 1. you are a little bit wrong with the clubdescription ;D its not the german venture club ! 2. that was written by me for their webpage and never changed by the new admin... 3. i had to write this by order of the Pres. at that time - because avon was giving away a set of tires for the meeting + all that blue raincoats you can see on the pics.. so thats not a club decision - that they are good... but thats just the way information is handled nowadays... if you ask me : bridgestone BT45 is the choice for the first and second gen. -for the RSV i donno..
