This year I have a big trip planned to take in the remaining US States that I have not had a chance to ride in. Also, because of how I have broken down my trip, I will be able to attend the Venturer's meeting at the Hoot in Knoxville, Tennessee and the big Yamaha Star event in St Joseph, Missouri, STAR Days.
I have a Yamaha V-Star that I keep out in Phoenix. I am getting it shipped across to Boston from where my ride will start on June 20th. I will meet up with fellow member Pyro in New Hampshire and then I will head off to the Hoot, taking in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvannia, Delaware, Maryland, Wasgington DC, West Virginia, Virginia and then Tennessee, I will spend a couple of days in and around Knoxville, will get to ride the Tail of the Dragon again as well as some other great roads. This link is a great video of the Dragon if you have a fast internet connection! weislake.com/sig/dealsgap.wmv about 49mb! 12 minute long video!
I will then head up through Ohio into Michigan and then across Illinois and on to Wisconsin before turning back south through Iowa to Kansas City, Missouri on the 27th June where I will fly back to England for 3 weeks.
I will then fly back to Kansas City on 19th July to resume my trip. Starting with 2-3 days at Star Days and then heading through Nebraska into Minnesota and then crossing the Badlands of South Dakota and passing by Mount Rushmore before heading up into North Dakota and then into Montana. I will then cut into Wyoming passing through the Little Big Horn where Custer made his last stand before doing a circuit around Yellowstone National Park and down into the Grand Teton National Park. Then into Idaho, then Oregon and then to Seattle, Washington. Originally, I was going to cut into Canada and ride up through Banff and Lake Louise, evenyually reaching Hyder, Alaska before turning around and coming down to Vancouver and then a fast interstate route back down to Phoenix. However, Hyder is a small place, some don't really consider it Alaska, and it will take a 4 day ride to reach it and return to the main US border. So, I have decided to fly to Anchorage from Seattle and rent a bike for a couple of days to do some serious riding way up north and hopefully cross the Arctic Circle. This also means that I will have time to ride down the Paciific Coast Highway on my route back to Phoenix.
My flight back to England is on the 3rd August so have some serious miles to do over the 2 weeks.
