Hello everyone, I am the proud new owner of a Veunture Royale with Sidecar.
I bought this as a 1986 XVZ1200, but after looking at your posted pictures i am thinking it's a 1985 XVZ1300, perhaps someone could tell me how I can figure out exactly what it is. I bought it on Ebay without viewing it, it has been imported from the states and is not yet registered in the UK, I guess it'll be the weekend before I can get my head under it to figure out just what I bought. Any help would be welcome. Thanks Bryan :)

Hi there Bryan: I just post this message with some edited codes so we can see the pics directly in the forum. I hope you don't mind. Seems to me it is a very nice good looking 1300 Venture, not a 1200, so it has to be at least from 1986 on. From the pictures I can tell it is a Venture Royale and not a Standard, and that means it has all the bells and wistles (CB radio, cruise control, intercom, on board class, ...) It has also nice accesories diffcicult to find nowadays, like the driver backrest, passenger arm rests, trunk rack, crash bar pegs,.... Congratulatiosn on your new adquisiton. I hope it brings you many safe miles. Hasta la vista from Sunny Spain. Nacho. www.hammonde.co.uk/images/xvz12.jpg [/img]

Thanks Nacho, the pictures look great, they are not my pictures, but taken by the vendor for the sale. It's great to hear about it being a 1300, I bought it as a 1200 so am happy for the extra cc's, looking at your "History" section i had pretty much concluded that it was a 1300. I didn't get any books or papers with it as it has only been imported and not registered yet in the UK, it does have an engraved plaque on the trunk saying that it was a contestant in a show in the Rockies, so I guess it has some history, it would be nice to know some of it eh? I'll take a picture of the plaque in a week or so, when my camera comes back from the Lake District, somebody might know what it is. I managed to get my head around her for ten minutes tonight and saw that the crankcase does say 1300, I got the battery out for charging as it's completely flat, hope to fire her up at the weekend, fingers crossed! :)

Hi Bryan, I've seen this bike at DK. I get my main Venture serviced there, bought it new from them back in 2000. Now have over 80,000 miles on it. They also brought back fro the USA my 2003 Venture and will be bringing back one of my V-Stars in a few months. Check out www.yamahaventureclub.co.uk most of the members have the 1st gen Venture like yours and Colin is a good source for spares.
