Watch this thread - it continues until spring time. Introduction : In the past I have had several Goldwings - 1200 and 2 X 1500 as well. 4 years ago I purchased the first Venture - an XVZ 12. Was quiet satisfied, but the riding feeling, specially on speeds up to 150 km was horrable. In October I purchased my white scooter in the US. My girl friend and me covered 4000 kilometers within 8 days - without problems. then me and my neighbour picked up the bike in Antwerp and rode it back to Berlin, without passenger and bags. Feeling at topspeed ride was the same horror as it was on the XVZ 12.
The story gets started.
The main problem are the bearings - not as most people think, the air suspension. That system work in the same efficency as a progressive fork spring. Yesterday my neighbour and me - he has a motorcycle service station - name is MG-Tec - started to take out all those rear bearings, at least 8 of them. My Venture is in a pretty good condition, but as we removed the rear wing and the bearings, I got shocked - just take a look at the pictures. That those bearings don`t work fucntional is clear. For my opinion it is a misplanning done by Yamaha ! All standard bearings get replaced by needle bearings - that gives the fuction without any space in between.
Next we will change the front bearings. Keep watching.
More themes in this thread will be :
installation trailer hitch two coloured leather wooden painted cockpit additional chrome and led lights
Hope you will like this thread.

Hi John, I am proud to do that for our group and for the US Venturers as well. Give me some time and you will receive a bounded booklet This whole winter project is quiet tough. You guys know, it is not just cosmetic change into something special. The really big change is the technical side. It will give a total different riding for the Venture. I know, with the first look it is quiet expensieve, but all of us do love our "old scooters" and many of us spent time and money in our hobby. Be sure guys, this is an ivestment for the live time of your Ventures and by the way : It will become a much more safe riding on it !!

Rudy....I think this is fantastic and really hope you can put this together so it can be put on this site as well as the US....it will be a very valuable asset for both, and that I think will be the big reason people who own Ventures or other bikes even, will join this group...because of great Technical "Self Help" information such as this project of your's......I don't own a 1st Gen but I know this is great info for those of you who do!!!!! And all of you should make others who do own 1st Gens. aware of the great information this site will & does provide!!!!!
Thanks Rudy, I enjoy following you're progress...and good luck!!!! ;D

@ John believe me those changes would also help on your bike you cant compare the parts Emil Schwartz are manufacturing for YOUR BIKE with the Yamaha crap for your Bike : meaning - you have to take the swingarm apart and send those cpl. parts to him , and he is building new parts speacially for your bike !!! when we meet next time i will explain that a little further to you and maybe we call Emil and ask for pricez for your bike... anyone else interested ask Rudy or his neighbour or me or call Emil on your own....

OK, guys.
This place is taking off. I can see how we improve each day.
This "Winterwork" thread of Rudy will be our first "Technical Library" stuff. Rudy, make sure to detail all the process and when it is finished, we can put all the text together with the pictures and I will create the first "Read Only" thread for this protect, so everybody can see it and decide imitate your work making the same thing and steps you have done.
I will do the same thing with the Shock-Absorber deal of the RSV when I install everything and will put all the text and pictures together too.
And I guess that everybody should do similar things with their projects. Doesn't matter if it is adding accessories, changing a tire or whatever. Just take pictures of the whole thing and we will create a good "Technical Library" for our beloved Ventures.
I'm so glad that we started this Europe Venture project!!!
Best regards to all,
Nacho.

So guys, project is going to get finished. The only hurdless is the german "TÜV" to get my trailer hitch registered and the whole bike as well. Bike will be at the TÜV within the next two weeks. Wish me plenty of luck, it is needed !
After this technical winterwork I will go ahead with the cosmetic changes. I will open up a new thread for that.
New project for the next winter is :
Installation of a VMax cam shaft and an increase with VMax parts up to 1450 ccm ! That`s not a joke. I already discussed those plans with my great technical supervisor t ;D. It was his idea The bike will handle that increase without unstabatility due to changes those have been already done.
At least it will give my scooter : 145 PS / 1450 ccm and a top speed from about 240 - 250 km
You can call me crazy or just call me

Allow me, to give you guys a short statement :
First of all : I will not show myself as "the king" who will show myself as the greatest.
Second: I will not show myself as the man with too much money !
Third : I do ride the Venture, because I do like to ride something special. I had a few GW`s before - there are too many on the roads. I deceided to step back to a Venture, because the Venture is real special.
Fourth : Of course I guess there are Ventures on the road with increases on the engines and suspensions as well.
At least, I deceided for myself, to get a Venture in a good basic condition for a reasonable price and rebuild and do investments for the bike to get something real special for myself instead of buying a "Standard" Goldwing.
That`s it !

""""" Oh guys, believe me, I wish that spring time will arrive soon ! """" today i put 250 miles on my Bike... riding at 100 miles/h on the Autobahn so where is the problem ? it has been only minus 3 degrees.... after a phone call with Rudi i like to tell you i dont rode all the way at 100miles/h believe me i love my life , when passing a bridge i slowed down to 50 miles , and also in curves or on passages where you could see its wet i slowed down i only let her go on the straights... under this conditions...

;D - I still prefer to wait unti spring time will arrive ;D Even if the roads are dry, do not forget you have salt on the roads and that is not very helpfull for the shape of your bike One of my friends, he rides a GW 1500 did the same. We had a vacation trip in the US and he lost a part of his pipes, due to rust he got on the bike, due to various rides in winter time, he made. By the way. I made a mistake - the disc as shown on the pics, is the rear disc

Yesterday Martin replaced the front fork. What a surprise the "Anti Dive" system worked. Before, it was out of function, due to real sticky mud that remained in the forks. There is one lesson that I have learned during the time. It is much better to take the bike to a frequent service ! So guys, this thread is going to an end. The technical work for this winter is finished. Watch up the thread "Winterwork - cosmetics". There I will show you more changes on my scooter ! Technical plans for the next winter are already done : Power increase of the engine - polish all engine houses, wheel polishing Hope you enjoyed this thread.

OK Rudy. Sure we enjoyed this thread. At least I did. you're a great partner in this forum and very participative. And please thank Martin for all the help given. He is not been helping only you. He has been helping a lot of Venture owners with this project you guys have done.
Now, if it is done already, please, write down from the beginning all the steps you made and tell me where each picture has to be shown and I will upload a "Read Only" thread on the Tech Section for everybody to see.
Have you seen the one that I did for the RSV shockabosrber? I guess we can do the same thing with your Winter Work.
Anyway. One million thanks for all you're advices, tips and pictures. You're a great Venturer.
See you in France!!!!
Regards to all,
Nacho.

Hi friends, today I had the first test ride . I am still missing a few parts, like the front spoiler and the side engine covers. They are still at the paint shop Anyway, the changes are more than usefull. Sure, I invested much money. For the same amount I can get a used Venture or VMax in the US . The whole suspension isn`t any longer comparable with the old original. That´s for sure !!! What a difference. I need to make a few small changes when riding the bike. I need to take out the whole air from the front. With air it`s a to hard riding in the front. Without air pressure - just fantastic ! I did the test ride without passenger to get a better view. I speeded up to 200. There isn`t any longer that "Spaghetti riding feeling" effect. That was great to see and feel ! At least, that invest I can suggest for every Venture and V Max rider !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

NAcho, thanks for forwarding this request. I appreciate that he honors the work. I think a good idea is, if you will pass him my mailadress xvzrider@aol.com - and we can conversate directly to each other. Sure, I am interested since the paint shop is not far away from my home. But I need the old black panels to get a new paint work on it ;D ;D ;D But pls. remind this man before, that the panels are not old - they are brand new !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
