Here are some pics of my hometown (Dungarvan) I live just behind that church tower Sailing out to the Black Rock (boat name "Cushty") Night time in Dungarvan Harbour This is called the "Look-out"with my dear old Mum in the pic (R.I.P.) I changed the colour on the boat, the pub called the "Moorings" is behind my boat. And again,I took this pic from Choppers boat Another pub called "The Anchor" and this is the pontoon outside the Anchor, many a time I have walked down there intoxicated to get to my sleeping quarters Hope you enjoyed them.

Noel, what is going on in the photo with the boats mostly above the water? Low tide? How do they remain balanced without being damaged? We really enjoyed all of the pictures. My wife and I hope to visit Ireland next year, hopefully we will have time to mosey down and see you guys after Derrick gives us the heave!!!

Greg, most of the yachts down here in the South East have Bilge Keels, that means they have 2 keels,I'll post a pic below showing the underneath of the boat. The harbour dries out twice a day, which is useful for walking out to your boat to antifoul & check the underneath of the boat & also inspect the mooring & ropes. Would be great if you & John could make it over here sometime. End of season, crane lifting "Cushty"out onto trailer. This was a mile out to sea,the tide beat us & we run aground,I had to leave my boat out there for 3 days with an anchor on the sand bed,the tides were very low,I had to wait for a spring tide so the boat would float.Exciting day that was. This was a time when one of the keels settled down on very very soft sand,it only happened the once, this would do no damage to the hull, but the pots & pans were all over the place ;D ;D This was another boat I used to have, the place is called Ballinagaul,Ring which is a pininsular,it's just accross from Dungarvan.

Noel: The tide changes that much?? Is this a part of global warming? Bunnie: I would have to visit in the time of spring or mid to late fall, if that would work for you, maybe we could start on an International Irish meeting! Of course, I probably won't bring my motorcycle!!! ;D

John, yep - sometimes it is hard to find the right words in English and you have to use an "Online translator". Thats what I did ;D ;D ;D
I got that word as a translation for :
"Unwetter"

|
Post by winghunter on Mar 5, 2006 10:42:41 GMT 1
No Thunderstorms John ;D ;D ;D
In our case I would translate in "Snowstorms"

Guess there isn`t any translation ;D ;D ;D

Literaly " bad weather ". Here we'd received 40 cm of snow last night, so I think the translation of Rudy is good : "snow tempest ! " In Alsace, it don't happen this kind of weather since 1985 ! So guys , we must make a pray for the meeting !
